Welcome to TMR’s online Preseason Program. This course, the Education and Awareness component of the Program, is a series of presentations intended to raise awareness about recent advancements to national, state and TMR led programs and initiatives within disruptive event management.
About this course
Australia is a terrorist target and terrorism continues to be a destabilising global force for the foreseeable future. It is assessed likely that any future attacks would use low cost and relatively simple tactics, including basic weapons, firearms or improvised explosive devices (IEDs). Mass passenger transport systems and places of mass gatherings are attractive targets for terrorists. They’re readily accessible, can lead to mass casualties, can create economics disruption and generate public fear.
The Department of Transport and Main Roads has developed the 4Cs Security Training package for use as a general training guide to assist transport operators and other stakeholders to familiarise and practice in identifying and dealing with suspicious items - increasing the preventative security measures of the transport sector. This package covers the 4Cs methodology: Confirm, Clear, Cordon and Control.
This package should complement other relevant information and techniques required to address and respond to security concerns. This package should not be used in isolation.
