This tutorial will guide you through the processes step by step of setting up your Navisworks workspace, navigate toolbars and functions, view and review model data.
Upon completion, you will possess the necessary skills to organise your workspace efficiently, allowing for easy navigation and review of 3D model data.
Learn the essentials of BIM with this tutorial, guiding you through model review, data extraction, and effective template creation and application.
For these steps, you must have Navisworks Simulate or Navisworks Manage.

About this course
Building Information Model (BIM) is the digital representation of delivering an infrastructure project from Planning to Handover.
This module, BIM Fundamentals, is the first of two modules that are targeting the TMR project delivery process (design and construction) and handover and outlines the key activities and support material for a project manager to get started and successfully deliver a project with BIM practices incorporated.
Who should do these modules?
Anyone is invited to do these modules however, it is highly recommended if you are in:
- Infrastructure Project Delivery
- Transport Operations
- Asset registering and management (ARMIS, BIS and ROAR)
- Transport Infrastructure Maintenance
What will I get out of it?
The BIM Fundamentals module provides a broad training session that outlines the definition and significance of BIM as a practice for TMR. Upon completing this module, you will have a basic understanding of the principles and advantages of BIM, as well as how it relates to TMR's business.
For a more in-depth understanding of BIM implementation in project delivery, including design, construction, and handover to operations and maintenance, it is recommended that you complete the BIM in Practice module after finishing the BIM Fundamentals.

The BIM in Practice module is specifically prepared for the TMR folks in Delivery and Operations and Maintenance. It will discuss where BIM practices apply through the three phases of Planning and Procurement, Delivery and Operations and Maintenance.
It will demonstrate the benefits and uses of BIM to help process the digital information inherent in all infrastructure.
