This program builds on the skills and knowledge developed in Working In Proximity to Traffic – Awareness Part 1 and is ideal for workers who need to select and apply appropriate works protection methods for short term, low impact work in accordance with MUTCD Part 3.

At the completion of this program participants will be able to; locate and identify appropriate works protection methods using the MUTCD Part 3, integrate WHS and MUTCD Part 3 requirements to reduce risk,  identify and consider road geometry hazards when implementing works protection methods and apply lookout protection to the standards required.

Participants will learn to identify appropriate works protection methods for short term low impact work using the MUTCD Part 3.

Online (Estimated Duration = 30 mins, you do not need to complete the course in one sitting)

At the completion of this program participants will be able to: identify and consider major and common hazards routinely faced when working in proximity to traffic, identify if the appropriate safe working process has been implemented by the responsible person on site and have the confidence to speak up if they believe their or other's safety may be compromised.

Work in Proximity to Traffic Part 1 & 2 training courses contain references to the Queensland Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD) Part 3, 2019 which will be superseded on 1st December 2021. The MUTCD Part 3 2019 may remain in effect on projects in Queensland, which commenced prior to 1 December 2021.  These training courses are suitable for workers who are involved in delivery of activities working under the MUTCD Part 3 2019 and will provide general awareness of hazards and risks associated with working in the road environment and short term works protection methods. 

Updated training courses will be released in July 2022 which incorporate the new technical standards of the Queensland Guide to Temporary Traffic Management and MUTCD Part 3 dated November 2021”
