This course sets out the design philosophy principles in technical documents standards, drawings and specifications which underpin the creation of a successful design. It will define the design domain concept where the design domain for a new road is traditionally referred to as the ‘normal design domain. It also expands into extended design domain and use of design exceptions with justification. These concepts and the reporting process are acknowledged in the TMR (Transport and Main Roads) Road Planning and Design Manual.
