This workshop is designed to help participants understand their role as Panel Chair, and to select the right person for the job and organisation in a timely and efficient manner. The combined workshop is designed to assist participants to:

- Apply evidence-based shortlisting techniques
- Develop great interview questions
- Manage high quality face to face and virtual interviews
- Elicit frank referee comment
- Address issues relating to prior knowledge
- Manage potential conflicts of interest
- Assess attitude and cultural fit as well as skills and experience
- Make the right decision
- Deliver constructive post-selection feedback
- Protect against successful appeals
- Design and implement an effective merit selection process
- Understand the context and requirements of selection reporting
- Identify what makes a "good" selection report
- Refresh skills and processes in compiling reports
- Respond to complex selection situations
